An extension of our Herons SOAR (Students On Academic Rise) program, Herons Summer Academy is a ten-day math and  language arts intensive program held during the summer. Students will work with Saint Andrew’s teachers to continue to  develop and strengthen their foundational math and reading skills.

 

Students will work on building base ten number sense, fluency in math facts, and math comprehension to ensure a strong foundation in those skills necessary to continue to succeed in math. They will also work on phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, reading fluency, and writing skills.

Academy scholars will participate in a daily rotation of math and language arts-based programs. During their 2 weeks, scholars will also participate in Wednesday field trips with the rest of the summer camp, and one day each week of water play. At the end of the program, families will receive a report detailing what their child worked on during the program and any other observations from the camp staff about their academic progress.
